1.00pm: Jacob Epstein of Loughton. Talk by Rosanna Eckersley £5 (£4.50).
2.15pm: George Granville Barker: Loughton's own poet. Readings by Elspeth (his wife), Sebastian Barker, and friends.A celebration of Barker's poetry. Barker was a favourite of T.S. Eliot and W.B. Yeats. He was born in Loughton. £5 (£4.50)
3.50pm: Performance Pieces. The first inspired by Barker's poetry, the second by James Hilton's work. Performed by Roding Valley and Debden Park Schools. Free, for Barker and Hilton ticket holders
4.15pm: James Hilton of Walthamstow. Talk by Adrianne Reynolds. Hilton is famous for Lost Horizon (1937), Goodbye, Mr Chips (1939) and Random Harvest (1942). £5 (£4.50).

Exhibition of Paul James Andre watercolours, courtesy of Epping Forest District Museum. Talk by Tony O'Connor (EFDM) at 11am in the Loughton Library Jazz Archive. Free event: no need to book.
Sunday 11 May at The Church of the Holy Innocents, High Beach
£5 (£4.50*) per talk or £10 for an afternoon ticket (available only on the door).
Doors open at 1pm for a buffet lunch, £5, for Church funds.
1.45pm: Rudyard Kipling. Talk by Sharad Keskar, The Kipling Society.
2.45pm: Baden Powell. Talk by Pat Styles, The Scouts Association.
3.45pm: Tea and home made cake, £2, for Church funds.
4.15pm: 'The Spark of the Dream'. How would 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' have been produced at Copped Hall? Talk by Adrian Eckersley.

WALKS
Saturday 10 May at 10am: Competition walk for accompanied children of all ages. Roding Valley Recreation Ground. Please note that all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult and that all walkers walk at their own risk. Small prizes, lots of laughs. £1 per child. Sunday 11 May at 9.30am, starting at Loughton Station: Walk with the West Essex Ramblers: Loughton's Literary Heritage. Led by John and Pat Juchau and David Stevenson. Advance booking advised as there is a limit to the number allowed on this walk.
Walk in two stages: Stage One: Loughton's Conservation Area, including an uphill walk through the conservation area. Walkers may leave after this point and return unaccompanied to Loughton or they may continue on to Stage Two at 11.30: into Epping Forest, past Kipling's pond and Loughton Camp. From there, you may walk back through the forest to Loughton Station (total distance 4 miles) or go on to High Beach Church, where a light lunch will be available. The afternoon talks start at 1.45. After the talks, you can walk back to Loughton Station (total distance for the day, 6 miles) or you can return by taxi (cost not included in the ticket). You are advised it may be muddy and you will need to wear appropriate clothing. All times and distances are approximate.

Sunday 4 May at 3pm (doors open 2.30) at the Church of the Holy Innocents, High Beach: 'A Light Hearted Look at the Law', including a performance of 'Trial by Jury' by Gilbert and Sullivan. Sung by The Lantern Light Opera Company £7 (£6.50*).
Tuesday 6 May at 8pm at the Lopping Hall, Loughton. 'A foot tapping musical evening' come and help us raise money for the Alzheimers Society. Words and music associated with Mary Wroth and her contemporaries. Sue Taylor, accompanied by the Erato Consort (madrigals), Roding Consort (recorders) and readers from LADS.
Lady Mary Wroth, of Loughton Hall, became in 1621 the first woman to publish a prose romance in England.
The programme includes the premier of 'In This Strange Labyrinth How Shall I Turn?' Words by Mary Wroth, music by David Lewiston Sharpe.£7 (£6.50*) (inaccessible to people with mobility problems).

6 - 11 May at the Forest Hall Church, High Beach Road, Loughton: Trinitarian Bible Society bible exhibition showing a wide range of bibles, including some old copies and many modern translations. The Forest Hall Church building was constructed in 1899. The original chalet style ornamental timber building was purchased from a firm in Norway. It still retains its internal charm and is well worth a visit. There will be a leaflet available giving a brief history of the building. Tea and coffee will be available. Free Event.
